Subject: The Future for Shawn

A constant source of annoyance for me, and no doubt all Lane fans, is the scarcity of his music and recordings. What confuses me is how there is all this demand and interest for his music and yet no one is supplying it. Surely the laws of supply and demand should operate. Shawn is a cult musical figure: if his music were re-released there would be a resurgence in his popularity. Most guitar magazines would print articles about him and there would be nostalgia and rememberance over his impact in the late 80s/early 90s. Surely if Powers of Ten, The Tri-Tone Fascination or a new album were released they would sell loads and Shawn could enjoy some stability, both financial and medical and social.

So really, my question is: what is preventing Shawn from re-releasing old music or making a new solo album? I think a new album would be great right now. Combing all his forays and influences so far. It could have the sophistication and compositonal prowess of PoT, mixed with the melody and soul of TTF and a sprinkling of Indian music, film music and anything else he's interested in. A sort of summary of everything so far, plus something new.

I know there must be financial and legal complications, but surely people can see that the demand is there. Someone should do what it takes to make Shawn's music widely available.

Any thoughts?
