I've listened to his music for many years and have enjoyed it for just as long. He plays in a band called "Pantera". It's extremely heavy thrash metal.

2. I heard he was supposed to be a viruoso but I haven't heard his playing. Is he worth checking out?

The term virtuoso is relative. He definately is a virtuoso in the genre of music Pantera plays. Can he play Shawn Lane's music note for note? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

4. How come one never hears about Shawn Lane?

Good question but one I'm not able to answer.
