Having listened to "Mr Cucumber", I can agree that the guy isn't on Shawn's level on the recording; amongst other things, the stuff is appallingly mixed; but as also mentioned the guy was very young and unlike Impelliteri, he does seem to be striving to find his own voice. He does show extreme promise, though.

Speed is just a tool, I've always said that Shawn's greatness is the combination of many things and his speed is only a tiny element of it. It's why Jeff Beck is (quite rightly) considered more highly than Malmsteen and his sycophantic copycats.
