IMPORTANT READ THIS FIRST...BASIC GANG STRATEGY
This is the strategy we figured out from playing at the top last month.
1. Dont play until you have max casinos (500) and barracks (250).
2. Dont "spend" turns on anything but guerilla warfare if you are going to be a thug.
3. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE max out your M16s and Humvees.
4. The gang ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY must stay together in rank. If a player gets destroyed, it is the bosses and players responsibility to bring him back. A gang with guys scattered all over the place is weak and cant defend or attack properly.
5. USE FRIENDSHIPS AND ALLIANCES. This was one of our most vital things...again up to the gang leader to set up and maintain alliances. We got rich being able to preserve what we had because we were surrounded by GOOD allies in Australia last round. We fought off invaders TOGETHER.
Our best allies last round were: Dni, Mobis, TheCleaners, Thugsharks. Good truces and guys who wanted alliances were: MoJoes, MOHAA, murderersrow, Association, Auspicious and Omerto. Use the message function!
6. Attack and defend as a gang. We coordinated an attack on the forum that netted $3B dollars one day...some times I did attacks with all our players when nobody was online and brought struggling players up 1000 places in ranking overnight. ITS A GANG...if you guys think and work as a GANG...everyone will do better.
Good luck guys...we played intensly last round and tried many different strategies and I talked at length with the game creator and some of the top gangs...our strategy DOES WORK...our weakness is only that we dont have a SECOND gang of equal dedication at this point but the best hope is with the gang MOBIS...that gang's leader "MsBoss" was absolutely awesome in helping us.

My idea pretty much matches yours, but gets into a bit more specifics. As you say, spend turns on G.W., and NEVER recruit. Donate everything to the gang, and have the gang built casinos first and barracks second. Once those are built, players buy m16s and humvees.
But while we are building up, we will be getting some free units from our barracks. There is no reason we cannot be attacking during that time. Any money we earn there is bonus for the casinos, and since we will all be donating 100%, we can't LOSE anything is somebody retalliates against us. (We may lose units, but since nobody spent turns on recruiting, we are losing "free" units. And since your plan says don't attack until maxed out, by that time our units will be replenishing in a few hours, so again no reason not to attack.)
Just seems pointless to do nothing when we are in range of people with cash lying around.

there isnt really a risk. The problem would be people hanging on to cash then getting spread all over the rankings...but if all money "earned" goes into the gang then that makes sense.
