The other suggestions are good, but I wanted to add a remote suggestion. I just went through a similar issue with my '92 accord, except that it would only overheat when I idled, and it was only the gauge, not the engine that was overheating. After replacing several parts, I found out it was the temperature sending unit, which had broke. It ended up costing me $26 and a few minutes of time to fix. Is your car really overheating (evident from steam and/or full overflow dump), or is the gage just reading that way?
