Hello all,

My '86 Accord has developed a hairline crack on the engine side of the radiator. The Honda service center wants $450 CDN to replace it, but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. It seems to be a fairly small crack as the coolant level is not decreasing at a great rate and there is only sometimes a small amount of steam that comes out from under the hood.

Has anyone had any luck with the radiator sealants that are poured into the coolant? I'm afraid of it clogging up the coolant ports or the thermostat. The rad is plastic so the crack cannot be welded; are there any glues/expoxies/compounds that could be applied to the rad for a temporary fix (I'm only hoping for my car to last another 5-10,000 kms)?

Or would I be better off gambling with a used rad from a scrap yard?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
