Is it a pinch bolt that slides into a groove in the lower end of the strut tube? If so, then I don't suspect you'll need an alignment. Many struts use 2 bolts that have slotted holes to allow toe in/toe out alignment, so if you do have two bolts with nuts, then the alignment is likely needed.

I suppose if they could somehow mark the outline of the bolt washers and reassemble them to the exact saem place, the alignment could be avoided, but that may be difficult to do.

What I've done is reassemble it as close to the marks as possible so that it is aligned enough to drive it to the alignment shop....good luck, glen
