Usually the sequence is: turn the cruise on, then once you're going about 30 MPH or so, press the set button and release. The cruise should then hold the speed.

I'm not familiar with your exact generation of Honda, but they usually have a "cruise" light in the gauge cluster that lights when it is actually holding the speed. Does that light come on for you?

There are probably 2 fuses, so make sure that both are good.

Does the horn work? The cruise switches are on the steering wheel, so the wires have to go through the clockspring behing the steering wheel. You could have an issue there is the horn doesn't work since it uses the same wiring harness.

You can check for vacuum at the cruise control actuator. Trace the accelerator cables back from the throttle body to find the acuator. You can also make sure the linkage to the throttle body is okay. You also can check the brake light switch on the brake pedal to make sure it is functioning properly. If the cruise thinks you're foot is on the brake, it will not engage the cruise.

But, you'll probably need to get a wiring schematic for your year/model and start troubleshooting that way....good luck...glen
