I have an 88 Accord. The steering fluid started out slowly leaking, then it got worse.

It got to a point where I would fill it up, and if I make a couple heavy turns the fluid would come pouring out in huge puddles at the point where I made those turns.

I tried one of those stop leak conditioners. It actually helped. The fluid level didn't stay completely where it should be in the reservoir, but there was an improvement of how much it held before the treatment.

Now it's a couple weeks later, and it's leaking out even worse than before It doesn't seem to be leaking when I'm driving anymore-- yesterday I filled it up, constantly got out, check for drips on the car, on the ground after heavy turns--nothing. Yet the fluid level still was at a loss when I shut off the engine.

About ten minutes later, the leak started dripping. Big time. Right by the left front tire, about a foot or so from the inside of it.

I went for a little errand last night, and the top of the outside of the fluid reservoir was all wet, and it was dripping, leaking down from the front bumper right in front of the tire. Lots of fluid loss there too.

The dripping isn't as big today [I didn't drive it], but it's still there, only slower.

My questions are:
Do you think I have a bad steering pump? Is it the rack? What symptoms tell you whether it's a pump or the rack, so you know the difference? Could it possibly be just be a leak in a hose?

I'm not getting any big noises when I turn the steering wheel, even when the fluid gets down really low.
