I can't believe I found this thread! I'm having the exact same problem in my '87 Accord LXi Auto. Runs well when it starts, but won't start after driving for a while and it gets warm. I took it to 5 different mechanics and they told me 5 different things: Starter, Cap & Rotor, Distributor, Cylinder Walls, Neutral Start Switch. Amazing.

Let me get this straight, the main relay could be bad and/or the coolant temp sensor could be bad. If I replace both, it should solve the problem.

Please confirm my understanding.
