I bought them through a friend at a Honda dealership. He is a Honda mechanic and he says you MUST use honda pads- nothing else will work.

As long as they are genuine Honda pads they will work. I guess Honda uses less metal so their pads are softer. The aftermarket pads have more metal so they heat up too much on Hondas and warp the rotors. You will probably have to turn the rotors AND replace the pads to fix your problem.
