Hello there,
I own an Accord 87 with manual transmission and carburetor, 290,000 Km on it. Up until now it was running very nicely. For about a week now, the engine is rough when warming up. It starts easily cold or warm, but after about 30-60s from cold start it becomes really rough, it smokes pretty badly, the exaust gases are very, very hot, and when driving along it shivers, especially when I take the foot off the gas pedal and when begin to accelerate. After a long while ('cause its winter in Canada), when the engine is hot, it idles at 2,500-3,000 rpm and still rough. After a very, very long while, it all disappears and the engine runs great again, it doesn't smoke anymore, idles at 800-1,00 rpm, the exaust gases are clean and normally warm. Some days it does that, some it doesn't. The high rpm idle makes me suspect the electric choke, but I don't understand why it's so rough.
I would appreciate x 1000 any advice.
