I am using Saxon on my older son, 4th grade and am very pleased with it. I used Miquon with him and my younger son. When they finish it, we switch to Saxon 54. So I am not sure about the earlier Saxon programs. I have had other friends use it and liked it. I recommend any math programs that call for manipulatives, to get them. Especially if you are uncomfortable with math. If you are concerned about the price of Saxon, you might want to look at Miquon. It is a lot lower in price, but it is a fun math program! My kids love it! It gives them a comfortable feeling with math and introduces more difficult math at a younger age but a way they can understand and enjoy it. Hope this helps!
