I'm a beginning homeschooler (well, actually my children are just reaching the age Florida requires I keep records, but kids really learn at home from the day they are born!). I feel pretty comfortable teaching all other subjects with out a set curriculum, except math (always been weak at it). I've been looking at the Saxon Math program. First- is Saxon Math worth the investment in your experiences? And second- does anyone recommend getting the manipulatives or can it be winged pretty easily with items around the house? If you don't recommend Saxon, what other programs work well for teaching math? My children love to learn and I don't want to destroy that with boring programs.
Thanks in advance for help and suggestions!
