As a parent I do like Saxon. We did Math 1 last year for my 5 yr. old. and will be starting Math 2 this Fall. I find we do need to cut some things out of the scripted lessons sometimes as he does get impatient and bored. He has a lot of his addition facts memorized and enjoys the manipulatives but the workbooks are repetative. We started doing 2 worksheets a day as they tell you to do one later in the day (we never did). Then once the addition facts sheets were started we only did every other problem on that and that days worksheet. It will just depend on your child though and I think with any program you gear the work to how they will learn. I like the way they taught different things that I may not have thought of. The earlier ages have a harder time writing for too long and the attention span is shorter. Sometimes we did a verbal quizzing of the facts instead of writing them down as my son started to dread those. I figured it was ok as long as he was learning.

Hope that helps!
Michelle
