Kelly,

I've used Sonlight for three years now, currently with an advanced 6th grader, a 3rd grader who is a struggling reader, and a kindergartener. The thing I love most about the curriculum is that I can teach history, geography, Bible, a lot of science, etc. to the whole family at the same time, and then teach math, reading, writing skills at each student's level. It has unified our home schooling, making us feel more like we're working as a unit. The read-alouds are also quality literature, usually tied to the period of history we're studying. The kids all love the time we spend reading aloud together. It is not perfect--there's much more work in the Instructor's guides than we can handle in a week!--so if you're a strict 'by the book' person, it may frustrate you not to be able to check everything off at the end of the week. If you're able to flex a bit, it's an excellent choice for a family with multiple grades/skills. It's easier for me to add more for my 6th grader than to pare down lessons for my younger two, so I'd suggest picking a level somewhere in between the two grade levels.
They have a website with some great question and answer boards: www.sonlight.com
