Subject: I wasnt drunk last time
In reply to: Glory 's message, "Drunken canoeing?" on 12:34:57 07/18/02 Thu

I dont need to be drunk to have to wear a life jacket. Last time we went was the first time I had ever been canoeing, and my cenoe-buddy went when he was 6. Needless to say right after we were pushed off, we went backwards, almost hit a bridge, the hit a tree and dumped the canoe over. Some genius decided that we should have the cooler. Well, we still had it, but it was only full of water. We tired getting back in the canoe and dumped it a few more times. All of this in the first 3 minutes....

However, after that I am proud to say we did not tip over again that whole day. In fact we got pretty good at it. I have a little crayola mold-magic statue of me and my canoe-buddy Ord in my car to commemorate that event.

I am normally not the nagging sort, but PLEASE promise me everyone will wear lifejackets! As much as it would please me to have to perform mouth-to-mouth on all of you, I might not be around if any of you rowdy boys fall in! So take care.

Hope you guys have a great time. Canoeing is so much fun, I haven't been in a long time. The first time I went I stupidly went barefoot and promptly sliced my foot open on some rocks. So every other time I've gone I've always worn shoes in the water. It's so much fun, though!

yeah wear shoes, I did. After I got in the water unwillingly, my shoes were nice to have on. However, both Ord and I were too stupid to bring an extra pair. "I wont fall in" is what I assumed. Plus, last time we went there were no spots that I could not stand up in the river / creek. It was pretty low. So, I got to borrow a pair of church's shoes for a day or so.

Here's another tip : when you put suntan lotion on, make sure you put it above your knees, even if your shorts cover them. As most of us learned, that when you sit, your shorts come up a little higher. Man, I had a very painful burn that was above my knees about 2 inches...
Such is life I suppose.
