In reply to: Michael Loutris 's message, "Pick-up notes should not have a seperate time signature" on 18:36:56 10/29/04 Fri

To begin with, my comments were in response to Dirk's request for feedback. I agree that there may be a software issue but at the same time, an explanation would be in order for those that have a limited musical knowledge (also you should cite an example of contemporary composers giving a pick up note a different meter. i would like see what you are referencing) Regarding tablature, my comments are meant only for encouragement. If we simply say that since many people use tab we should not encourage them to learn to read music is rather short sighted. You mention De Visee's Suite as an example of Dirk's musical knowledge as if I made a personal attack on his "expertice". Regarding De Visee why do you think there are different arrangements? And why do you feel that Dirks is a true representation of what the composer wanted?

Look, I am not in competition with anyone and only want to further the cause of classical guitar as well as the enjoyment that we all receive by performing these peices.

If you view my comments as negative, you completely missed the spirit of my intent.

I look forward to your response.

William Smith
