Subject: Street & Smith's List

The recent Street & Smith's college edition came out with two teams listed in the top 20 nationally. Both Fenwick and Bolingbrook had nice write ups.

Even though the area's '07' class is as deep as any in recent memory only 1 area player(Amy Jaeschke) made any of the top 6 teams of Street & Smith All-American's. This class so far has at least 10 kids committed to programs in major conferences with some of the big name kids yet to commit.

The following players are kids from Illinois who made the S & S Honorable Mention All-American teams --

Mauvolyene Adams(Bolingbrook)
Brittany Boeke(Rockford Boylan)
Sarah Booth(Warren)
Chelsea Buher(Lawrenceville)
Latear Eason(Hope)
Paige Fiedorowicz(Johnsburg)
Miame Giden(Proviso East)
Alison Jackson(Fenwick)
Brittany Johnson(East Richland)
Lykendra Johnson(Trinity)
Tailor Jones(Whitney Young)
Emily Maggert(Paris)
Keilani Moeaki(Wheaton Warrenville South)
Deanna Ortiz(Resurrection)
Tatiana Ortiz(Von Steuben)
Devereaux Peters(Fenwick)
Taylor Pikes(King)
Tracy Pontius(Morton)
Jasmine Poteete(Simeon)
Erin Power(Fenwick)
Meshia Reed(Hillcrest)
Kelsey Smith(St. Charles North)
Ashley Thomas(Loyola)
Brittney Thomas(Bolingbrook)
Kaila Turner(Marian Catholic)

The people at Streets and Smith know what they are talking about. For what it is worth, most of the class of '07 are marginal at best. Despite the attempts of local publications like Hoops Gurlz and others to create superstars, it's good to see that there are knowledgeable hoops people who are not so easily influenced by the propaganda that promotes itself as BB journalism. Sure, the benches of 10 major programs will provide a nice view of the games for some of the area's 07 class, Let's see how many actually make a difference for their teams at the next level. Better yet, let's see how many will ever play in a NCAA DI national tournament. The best girl BB players of the class of '07 are not even playing. I thtink this class will be the best bunch of practice players in the history of Chicago girls hoops. They should give the girls that have to play for their teams a lot of confidence in practice.
