Subject: Clark strong Start

Michele Clark has come out of the gate very strong. I know they have only played Dyett and Taft, but they did what they were suppose to do to those schools. Beat dyett by 37 and Taft by 40. This was with their starters playing very little minutes after halftime. Tribune picked Taft to win Chicago conference north. Here are the Clark players

Amber Razor -- Senior - Transfer from Mother McAuley last season and she led them through the Chicago conference playoffs and into the Windy City West this year. She is without doubt the floor general for this team. Strong in post for 5'11 but can hit outside jumper consistently and can run the floor. Developed as a ball handler over the summer and is now a complete player.

Raquia Sawyer -- Junior -- 2 year starter at varsity level. Very quick, can hit the three and outside jumper, can beat her man off the dribble. Can play 1 and 2 point equally well. Very tenacious defender and extremely quick with very good vertical jumping ability. Will blow past many who defend her.

Danielle Crump -- Sophomore -- 2 year starter at varsity level. Has good handles, excellent court vision, looks to distribute first, drive and score second. Always leads in assists. Has developed into a floor leader when playing point

Dorothea Hayes -- Sophomore -- 2 year starter at varsity level. One of the best pure atheletes that I have ever seen. I'm biased because I like Clark, but she is that good. I had a friend called me from the Oklahoma-Depaul game the other day to enquire about her. She wipes up the board, get points off offensive rebounds, can run, jump, shoot, and defend. Can hit the three, but not consistently yet. Brings a lot of intensity to the court.

These are the main four. The fifth spot rotates a couple of decent players as starters; Tonesha and Janessa (both Seniors). But I believe that Janessa.(I don't know her last name) should be the starter permanently. She is a defensive force, a rebounder and she gives them offense. Another senior Shakila (I think that's her name) is a good shooter from anywhere on the court but Her weakness is ball handling.

They have one of the quickest sophomores coming off the bench in Teominique. A very aggresive defender with double digit steals in most games. Add to this a couple of Freshmen who are talented and play hard, this should be a very good year even though they are in Windy City West.

I know that no one has ever heard of these girls because thteir parents don't let them play AAU in the summer. I really don't know why, maybe it is the expense. I really don't blame the parents seeing all of the abuses and turning out of girls that has accurred in AAU.

I'm not saying that they will win state, but they will be pretty good.
These girls will go to college whether they get basketball scholarships or not.
I just believe that they will win a few games along the way!!!

Shut your bumb ass up.... AAU has nothing to do with "turning girls out" maybe they arent on a team simply because they arent GOOD ENOUGH!!! But wait, yall stared yall own AAU team last summer, with the Wolfpack... Why werent they on that team.

I just hate when people get on this bumb ass site, and use it as a form to hype, GARGAGE ASS PLAYERS!!!

Now BEAT IT!!!

Wait til yall get into your conference games, then report back... You beat DYETT & TAFT - come on man!!!

To whatever,

You should get your facts straight. Clark did not start an AAU team last year. One girl played on that Wolfpack team, and another girl usually plays at the Chicago Bull Training Academy. They may get beat by some of the conference teams when the conference games start, but they made it to Windy City West. This proves that they are probably better than most girls who have to attend a school that recruits to be considered talented. They could have gone to basketball high rich schools, but what would that prove? If the girls at those high schools are as good as they are reported to be, they could stay at their local high schools and make them better. But in order to win, they must be on teams loaded with basketball players. For this reason I respect players like Taylor Pikes, she's good and she didn't transfer to Hope, Von, or Young.

Of course you are correct, They will get beat in the conference, look at it,

Whitney Young has a budget that allows them to recruit in Florida and the political pull that results in elected officials looking the other way while they do it.

Marshall will beat them because of coaching

But then who's left? Crane and Westinghouse -- They will win a few of these games.

If you don't believe that girls are routinely being abused read a few of the links below.

If you still don't believe, there's more. I can send you countless links to reliable information. All that is required is that you read.

Is a basketball scholarship really worth that much?
I think not.

The seniors on Clark's team are already enrolled in post secondary schools after high school because of academics. They will probably get married one day and be socially stable and acceptable without a lot of the childhood trauma that is being experienced by many girls on the AAU circuit.

I said I wouldn't write on this board again because of the trash that comes from certain players at certain schools. But this is a very good and pertinent subject.

Don't know about the Clark team or players. I saw the Razor kid play against Loyola when I was looking at Weisman and McCoy a couple of years ago while I was in the Chicago area. She was with Mother McAuley then, I remember writing that she had a very high number of conversions for the amount of touches she had that game. Then she just disappeared. It appears as if she has re-emerged at Clark. If things have not changed and she has continued to work hard; she could play with everyone on the court then, she should be equally as good now. Whether or not she is a superstar I don't know, but she was good then and she had a very high basketball I.Q.

Concerning the abuses of Girls in AAU is the real reason I joined this conversation. I travel from California to New York, Texas to Canada. If anyone is not aware of the abuses of young women that takes place in AAU, they are living with their head in the sand, or they simply refuse to believe that "The Emperor Has no Clothes!" AAU does produce some very talented atheletes for us at the next level, but to be very honest, most of these girls eventually have to overcome the issues related to their previous abuses. Many never overcome. Not many will play at the professional level, and the demands of college atheletics prevent all but the very best students from taking a meaningful curriculmn. I hate to say it, but that's why most of the elite teams, not all of them, are loaded with inner city minorities. I say most of the elite teams, not all of them. There are teams like the Illinois Full Package, Ohio Lady Hoopstars, etc, but if you follow those girls and then follow the girls from the other teams, you'll see a very real difference in life after basketball. I have found that the parental involvement for the Lady Hoopstars, to name one, far exceeds the parental involvement from the Chicago Hoops Express. Their players go to different schools where their high school teams are good because they are their. They haven't transfered to the area basketball powerhouse, if there is one in t he area. From my observation, basketball to them is a means to an end, not and end to a means.

It's just my professional observation; I know it may not mean a lot to you "Whatever", but it is what it is. I am completely unbiased observer.

Got a chance to catch Clark tonight. They lost. I have to agree with Whatever. Clark has one player, '(#40), I think that's the Razor kid. The rest of them are probably what whatever described them as "Garbage players". They are dumb on the court and selfish. Guards can't run a simple offense, they try to force drives while their best shooter was wide open. I blame the coaches. Number 10 & 23 should have been sat down after multiple force drives. If number 10 is Crump that ClarkBBfan talked about, she didn't show any skill or inteligence. She should be playing grade school BB. I've seen grade schoolers make better decisions. Maybe she is a freshman and has a lot to learn, but she shouldn't have been on the floor if they wanted to win. It turned out to be a game of one pretty good player (#40)against a team and the team won. #40 blocked shots, rebounded, and scored when the ball was passed to her. At the end, she was forced to bring the ball down the floor. They need a big time smart guard and they could compete. To itsjustagame, I don't think this team deserves any respect.

did they really pic taft to win chicago conference north?
prosser is in that conference also right? if so they r definitely going to have some trouble beating prosser n michele clark because prosser just blew them out of the water by 35 points...playing subs for the 3rd and 4th quarter.
I wish all the teams luck....

please give clark some respect for what they have accomplished in a short time as a high school. Clark has no AAU team they have girls that loves the game the only ties that clark has with the wolfpack is a parent of a former player that has transfer. i have had the pleasure of watching girls basketball for many years now the only player in this area that is ready to play on the next level is johnson of trinity. we know that clark will lose some confernce game but keep in mind that clark is a young team that continue to win. three years ago clark was beaten by hope in a state playoff game 98-28 and they lost two of thier best player to other team yet they have continue to compete. last year team was run-up in the chicago confernce this year team could win the windy city west confernce or finish no worst then third place. I will close by tell you that i have seen clark play this year if they can learn to play with intensity for four quarters they will get thier respect because they will beat teams like young and marshall.

P.S Clark is a young team loaded with talent they will be good for at least five or six years.
