whose bishop refused to give him a TR. He cited three reasons:
1)friend only paid his tithing once a year. He paid a full tithe but bishop didn't like that it wasn't monthly installments. Remedy: he could pay it once a year if he also presented the bishop with a copy of his tax return as proof that it was a full tithe.
2)he was away from church too much. Friend's family (parents, grown children, etc) lived a couple hrs away so they frequently traveled to visit them. Remedy: every time he traveled he was to bring bishop a note from the bishop of the ward he visited saying he'd attended church in that ward.
3)and the third reason for no TR: he read his scriptures during Sacrament meeting!!! For that there was no remedy: stop it or no TR!
So I guess too much of the scriptures really is evil! :-/
