And I noticed you didn't answer any of my questions, didn't clarify at all what you thought a "reasonable frame of reference" would be, or if you thought the Iraqi's were better off.

He still will have to serve eight years in prison, as well as life the rest of his life (if he has one) knowing he murdered someone. That isn't a sentence I wish on anyone.

Eight years is a joke! No jury in the US would stand for a sentence of 8yrs for cold blooded murder. That's not even a slap on the wrist--it a wink and a nod. And if knowing you murdered someone the rest of your life is sufficient punishment, why bother with a judicial system at all? Why not just let everyone go free, satisfied that they are burdened by a guilty conscience?

you are both dead wrong to make the assumption that just because a few did this,
What's "just a few"? 10? 20? 100? How few are few enough that we don't need to be upset? These videos represent 150-200 people. And as I said, the videos are the tip of the iceberg, 90% of which is under the surface. So we're talking thousands. Is that few enough for you?

And since you have so little knowledge or experience of the military culture, way of life, or even what they do,

And this means...what? You're making a big assumption here, a statement that you have no idea if it is true or not, but just for the sake of the debate, let's say you're right. Let's say I know NOTHING about the military "culture" (I suppose, since it gets its own name, it's different from American Culture or Christian Culture.) or "what they do" (I'm guessing it's not defend American soil, because defending American soil doesn't require bombing innocent civilians and murdering babies.) So it's something so alien, so outside my ken that I'm incapable of understanding. Then explain it, please. Explain how the "military culture" and "what they do" leads to these atrocities. Please explain how understanding the culture and what it does makes these horrors more palatable.

Dh is 3 for 3. :o)
