Last summer I was in Ithaca, NY...yes a very liberal place. I had two of my children with me. I was casually chatting with some very friendly people and the question came up to what my husband did. I said he was in the army and currently in Afghanistan. End of conversation. The coldness was very apparent. I can only imagine what might of happened if I had said he was in Iraq.

I AM afraid that stuff like this will paint all US servicemen and women as bad. As I have said before and will again, I know many, MANY fine people who wear the uniform. Of course some of the pigeons of society wear it too and leave their "messes" for the others to clean up.

Luckly, most people have been very kind. If you get the Church news, there is to be a very wonderful story in it this Saturday of such kindness. My family will be mentioned in the article.
