Subject: Am I misreading you, Eppy...

I wonder my first post in this thread fell into an alternate universe. Help me; forgive me if I'm not hearing what you intended.

To answer your concerns to my best ability this moment, Eppy, we may agree about the humane ends to an animal's life within our care, but I see little connection to this circumstance. Were that the case, Terri Schiavo's husband would have been gifted an opportunity to take her to the vet and have her euthanized. And so, the pet (cat-dog) correlation so often associated with this case does not work for me--at all.

I applaud and agree with Chuck's words of wisdom on this topic.

I still have hard time with this decision. I have nothing but empathy for both sides of this issue.

Me, I am fortunate to not be making these choices for the Schiavos. Let me also pretend to be wise and wonder we do not know the full story behind all of this tragedy.

As a person who's among caregivers to someone with a debilitating and degenerative disease, I've lived one opportunity to become that much more grateful of many tings. And so I am increasingly pro-choice, pro-tective of what has been asked of me.

Tippy-toeing off my soapbox,

Debbie
