Subject: Institute on the Constitution.

well, today I received my materials. I called my bishop and asked about using the building to teach classes on the constitution. I started making a list on who to invite.

Eagerly I opened the box and began to thumb through the class materials. I looked over the first lesson. Section one looked good. However,I was stunned to find this section:

II The Purpose of Government
1. To restrain the exercise of sin.
2. To enforce God's standards of right and wrong
3. To maintain order so Christians and others can practice right living.

Section III is a mixture of good and bad. Not a lot better.

III Basic Principles of Government
1. God gives government divine authority.
2. God also limits government authority.

Biblical view vs Pagan View
State ordained by God / State IS God
State authority is /                       State authority is unlimited
patriotism /       State worship
Republic /       Dictatorship.

I have grave doubts about teaching this course, and may return the materials without opening or viewing any of the videos.

Maybe I need to write Mike Petroutka a letter.

Have you taken the course, Chuck?
