Jay, she might have said that because her experiences were fresh upon her, and she hasn't seen communism during the Cold War, up close and personal. Was she forced to go visit Lenin's tomb? That was SOP for every person who ever visited the city, whether for the first time or tenth time. You were forced to visit Lenin's tomb and pay your respects.

Ask her to write an essay comparing communism with free markets and low taxes and benefits people are forced to
either pay for or accept under communism and what choices people have under a lassaiz faire republic.

But just listen. Don't harsh her mellow. One of my best friends in the world was a card carrying communist. His parents sent him to Russia for a high school present (they were members of the ACP and knew John Reed personally) and when he came back he was so disillusioned that he joined the John Birch Society.

Sometimes time is all it takes. I wouldn't sweat it too much.
