about when we like Democracy and when we don't.
Iraq has no democracy--Bad Iraq. We have to teach them a lesson.
Palestinians vote Hamas into power. Bad Palestinians, you can't vote for just whoever you want.
Algeria votes for the extremist Islamist Salvation Front and the US endorses the coup d'etat that displaces the properly elected government. Doesn't matter what the people want, you CAN'T have an extremist in power.
Now Iraq holds elections--YIPEE!!! But, oops, the Shi'ites (who won) want Jaafari to be their Prime Minister. And--surprise!--the US doesn't like him and is trying to oust him.
Hmmmm...wonder what that will do to the current civil strife? Or do we really care? As long as we have a say in every facet of every country, does it really matter if they have democracy or not?
