"Of course, deterring a majority of the population away from bearing arms doesn't help those left in the city, now does it? Madmen are out looting, raping, and killing with unregistered weapons, while good people are left for the madmen to use how they wish."

This is not the case in this situation. The guns people had were taken by the storm and the flooding not by the government.

The guns the madmen have were mostly looted from damaged, destroyed, and flooded stores.

I only agree with the martial law thing for an extreamly temporary time in this extream situation.
The good people do not have their own guns(lost in the loss of their homes). I bet most of the local police lost their guns, squad cars(or the streets are to flooded to be of any use) raidio communication etc.....

I'm not there and I have never been in a situation like the one that has unfolded there so I can not speak from experience. But I think if there was ever a time for a EXTREAMLY TEMPORARY maritial law this would be it...only long enough to bring the "MADMEN" under control. And to get the LOCAL GUARD, Police or citizen groups back into control.
What I mean by temporary is NOT anything like what we are seeing in Iraq! That is Not a temporary situation in anyway shape or form.
anyway that is another subject altogether.

I think martial law is needed right now because the "madmen"(I do agree that they are mad, nuts, fruitloops etc...) are doing what they want with the citizens of that area. They need to be stoped so the people can get their lives and their cities back.

Blessings
Jean
