"Joe, you approve of most of Bush's agenda--I'd love to hear your thoughts."

Not sure I approve of most of Bush's agenda. The big blunders and his motivations certainly overshadow what he has done right. Anyway, I really don't have it in me to discuss politics in a major way these days. I'm really not ignoring you. If something hits one of my remaining hot buttons, I'll say something on occasion.

When I'm writing about something fun or interesting like New Orleans, guitar playing, 60s era muscle cars, vegetable gardening, motorcycles, etc., the words just flow on to the screen. When I'm discussing politics, every thought and word has to be forced there. These days I rarely even get into a gun control debate, even though at one time one, that was of the things I lived for.

As far as America being much more isolationist, I'm all for it. We don't need troops in post Cold War Europe. We should bring our people home from South Korea. It's way past time for those places to pay their own freight in money and blood.

We should guard our borders, forget about free trade agreements, and pretty much mind our own business. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep on the cutting edge and keep a sizable military just in case....

Joe
