>Whoa! lol... pick it apart line by line and go on the attack. Man...well, okay...here goes the defense:

Okay, first let me address the whole "new here" thing. I am relatively new to Isaakland compared to most other fans. I've been a fan for about six months, and I've been around the boards for maybe two or three weeks. I initially avoided them when I went online with my Isaak craze because of their reputation for misinformation and well... attacks and attitudes like this. But I found another forum or two that had cool fans who were welcoming to newcomers, no malicious gossip, and that's where I've "been" until I decided to take a dive into the deep end (the boards) recently. I decided, in short, to give the boards a chance- and I haven't regretted it entirely. You'll notice I use my real name and make myself accessible by email, and I have indeed been contacted by cool fans with real info.
Okay... now the three or four new songs thing- the posts here didn't contain that info (that I saw- maybe I missed a post or two). The people asking here didn't seem to know the story on the album, so I volunteered what I knew. All I knew for certain was that it was going to be a combo album, with a minimal number of new songs. The "three or four" number was strictly speculation, as I'd never read anything on an exact number of new songs. I just knew it was minimal, and depending on the length of the album, anywhere from one song to four could be considered minimal. Perhaps I should have been broader- perhaps I was being optimistic. I do apologize if you think I was spreading misinformation- that's the last thing I want to do.
Now onto the query regarding where I read that Chris and Showtime compromised on the number of shows. In the time I've been reading CI articles, I've read hundreds, and how many of those were on the show I have no idea, so I hope you can understand when I say I'm not sure where I read it. I've saved quite a few of them, so I will scan about and when I find the exact article, I will post it here. I can only, in the meantime, offer assurance that I'm not making it up. It stuck in my head when I read it, because I took it as a hopeful sign that perhaps he's reluctant to dedicate his career to TV. I agree with your statement that anyone in showbiz knows that you take all you can get, but there have been many instances in the past when artists have passed up bigger things to pursue more primary interests, and Chris is in that position. He's well-established enough that if he doesn't want to continue with TV after one season, he doesn't have to. He'll always be able to play his music, don't you think? I know I haven't been around long, but he seems to have a VERY loyal fan base, and varied, too. He has his surfing and movies and loves to tour- no one can read his mind and know what he'll decide- which he'll end up wanting more than the others. And what about the rest of the band? I assume that their opinions will matter to him somewhat, too, and who knows what they'll want to do? In guessing that he MAY not decide to go on with TV, I'm doing just that- guessing. You guess otherwise, I suppose. That's okay.
"Who would buy earlier albums when they can have a best of?" hmmmm...well, there's going to be an interim of several months between the show premiere and the album release- that's time enough for some earlier albums to sell with the exposure the show can provide. I read (please don't ask where! I don't remember the exact article, but again- this stuck in my head!) that they'll play two songs per show- so it's not inconceiveable that earlier albums could sell, don't you think? Again, this is mys sense of optimism coming into play. It's a shame his first albums didn't do well, and I'd love to hear reports of sales after the show gets going.
I know I sound like a self-appointed publicist- but then again, all true fans are in a way, don't you think? They are the publicists "in the field"- anyone with a board or website orr who pops in a CD at a party or passes on an article- it's just unpaid publicity. I take that back- it is pais. Paid in being able to keep hearing the work because it's succeeding. Any musician and their pro publicists will tell you that they'd be nowhere without the fans. I only wish I'd been here since the beginning! I don't know why this thing grabbed me like it did, but when I started listening this last spring, I wanted to devour all the info I could- and I've been doing just that. Do I consider myself an "expert"? no.... but a dedicated fan definitely. And one who doesn't engage in personal attacks on other fans or the band and their personal lives. So I don't see how I'm going to "step on toes".
As for your more condescending tones---well, I'm gonna forget about that for now. Not cool, man. If you want to ask about my sources, I understand. Sorry if I upset you somehow. But maybe next time we can be on better footing, eh? Now that you know where I'm coming from...
