In my state, Kansas, there are schools for insurance licenses. They last three days, and then you take a two hour exam. Pass ratio for life and health that take the course is about 85%, and if you fail, you can retake the course free. Cost is about $185, plus licensing fees. You may need a sponsor company, but those are easy to come by - just ask a brokerage company to sponsor you. Look in your local yellow pages under insurance licensing, or call your insurance commissioner - they should be able to point you in the right direction.
