This forum is a toughy! I want more input from us catfishermen! I saw your post on AFF about the mouth of blue spring..hmmm. AFF doesn't get too excited about catfishing. I just started fishing Guntersville Dam( 2 times, now), but I haven't found the right place for the bigger cats Personally I am trying to get my first BIG cat..I have a 14ft v-hull with a 9.5hp motor that gets me around just fine. I have been having great luck with 2-4 lb cats with plain old night crawlers with a size 2 circle hook and sliding barrel sinker. I anchor various spots and drift some. Last time I was up aginst the big walls of the Dam but did not anchor..too chicken.. I am goin back Thursday and experiment. I fish alone mostly..and use bits and pieces of info I have found on the web. Being a heavy set person I don't quite see myself throwing a cast net for shad..and I know I need some fresh cut bait and LARGER hooks. Right now, I have 2 of Walmarts large snergy rod with 20lb test that works great and 1 heavier rod with a penn 209. I am awaiting another rod and reel with a penn 309 that will be spooled with 30lb..hmmm am I crazy..but I have this feeling that my 20+ cat awaits me and I am gonna be ready! DO tell me more about your fishing experience with cats..PLEASE
