Subject: potty issues

I adopted my crestie about a month ago. She's around 4 yrs old. She never indicates when she needs to potty, so I have to watch her, and when she potties in the house, she's sneaky & fast. We never catch her in the act. I use my other dog as a guide for her. When he goes to the door, I send them both out, and after eating they both go out. I'm not sure how to get her to go to the door to let us know when she needs it.
Also, I have a second issue. Now this is weird & a bit funny. She likes to do her business (1 & 2) on the cement. We have a large grassy backyard for her, but she will go on the patio if I am not outside with her. And when I walk outside with her she'll run to the side of house & climb on the square slab that the air conditioner is on & poop there. I tried putting booties on her, thinking it was the feel of the grass, but it didn't work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
