Well that's a novel approach to housebreaking. Does he use a piddle pad or go outdoors? If outdoors, start giving him a SMALL treat & praising to beat the band when he does his business outside.

Cheese is fine, I havent' met a dog yet that doesn't LOVE cheese.

The worst thing you can do is start switching his food trying to get him to eat. That's how finicky eaters are created. Stick to your guns....like I said, he will not starve himself.

You might even try putting his kibble into a treatball, buster cube, or similar treat dispenser. He'll have to work for the food which will be fun for him, and he'll be eating his kibble at the same time.
