My girl, Suzi, is a Crest-care kid. She is 10 1/2 yrs old now. The vet found her murmur in 2005 when she was having a leg surgery. I brought her to a Cardiologist for an Echocardiogram to develop a Baseline & see how advanced it was. Thankfully, it was mild but Suzi has had an Echo every year since then. It has just recently advanced to a moderate murmur so I have to bring her every 6 -9 months now for the Echo. Her Cardiologist does not feel that it is time to put her on any meds at this point. Now that the murmur has advanced to moderate, it will accelerate faster. I keep a close eye on her, keep her weight down, keep her out of the hot Florida sun & monitor her weight.

She will eventually go into Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). If she has a significant increase in weight or I notice her urine output has decreased, it will be time for a very quick visit to the Cardiologist. So far her only symptoms have been an intolerance to the heat down here. I pray every day that we will beat the odds & have many more years together.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
