See, that's what I always thought too. But as I was reading the book, I noticed that the line was different, which made me think that maybe there really *is* a father. Hold on, let me look it up.

Here it is: "There is no father," she said finally. She shook her head slowly. "I carried him, I gave birth to him. I raised him. I can't tell you any more than that."

I don't know if that one line makes any difference, and I don't know why it's different from the movie, or which one is right . . . but I get the feeling from this line that she's trying to hide the father by telling the truth. He wasn't there for Anakin, he probably doesn't even know about Anakin.

Who knows?
