Subject: T.S. Indefatigable 1957/1958

At the Indefat. 57/58, George Washington Irving Captain, Napthine, first officer, Coxell, seamanship. Was very unhappy to start with, but came to look forward to eacaping to the RN. I remember well sitting outside the building, peeling spuds with a blunt knife, sitting on nozzers rock, whilst those who smoked, went behind for a quick drag. Swimming in the Menai Straights every morning in summer, in winter, in the unheated pool. Joined the band, played tbe bugle and remember well, marching to church on Sundays and going to Bangor for Sat afternoon recreation. Also, the pulling competitions with the "Conway" just down the straits. Denton was the head boy. Went on to join the RN as a "sparker" (Radio Operator) and also went on the Joint Services Amphibious Warfare School to do commando/parachute training, not a bad life! Would love to hear from anyone who knows me from then, or even has overlapping dates.
