Subject: Watts Naval Training School

I am researching our family history. My Grandmother and 3 male siblings were placed in Dr. Barnardo's Home in the early 1900s. Two of her brothers attended Watts. There was George Brown, birth year probably early-mid 1890s, who attended Watts and then went on to a career in the Royal British Navy. George eventually emigrated to Johannesburg, South Africa after leaving the English Navy. He retired and died in Capetown, South Africa. The other brother, Joseph Brown, followed his brother, George, by joining the British Navy at 14 yrs old and eventually emigrated to South Africa. He didn't like it there and transferred to Australia where he settled until he died. He was also known as "Brownie".

Can anyone point me in a direction of how to contact the Watts Naval Training School to try to obtain records? Or, would anyone have any kind of information that may be useful to me. I live in the United States so it is not possible to visit the School, I would have to write.

I would be extremely grateful for any help, tips, pointers, etc.

Debi Coe
