Dear Sir,

I only recently became of this website while continuing in my efforts to find out as much as I can regarding my grandfather....Horace Edgar Taylor.... My grandfather told me that he attended the National Nautical School (Formidable) at age 10. This would have been around 1908. I believe he remained in the school from 3 to 5 years, this I am not sure. He told me he was number 99 of the new 1000. I remember seeing old photos and documents from the time he was at the school and I held his cap tally. There is no doubt in my mind that he attended the school....it was after he completed his time, he immigrated to Canada with the help of an instuctor named Capt. Steeles I believe. Can you tell me if there are records kept that go that far back for the school and if so, how might I obtain access. Of course, living in Canada makes things a bit awkward.....not being able to represent myself in person.
I would be most appreciative of any information that you might provide regarding this. I thankyou in advance for your attention.

Respectfully,

James B. Taylor
