Subject: Early trainees

Does anyone know of the existence of any listing of boys in the early days of the Indie? My grandfather said he was put on the Indie after his parents died in one of the late 19th century Cholera outbreaks in Liverpool. His name was Geo. John Lambert Roberts. Later he went to sea for most of his life serving mostly in the old Blue Flue Line. I am currently researching the Mersey T/Ss. for a history of New Ferry/Rock Ferry where the ship, along with the Akbar, Conway and Clarence were moored in the Sloyne.
