Subject: She's Clung Too Long

She's clung too long
To a sad song
That same old tune
Played in her ears

Too many times
Same old lines
He so carelessly sings

Heart's record
Worn through the grooves
Broken promises
Jumping off track

Spinning wishes
Lay there shattered
On this vinyl floor
Of her dreams

Notes out of place
Words lost
In unkept rhyme
But now she knows

Her own song is waiting
To be sung
Always been there
For her

Discovering her true voice
That of an angel
Crooning love's faithful ballad
To the heavens
