Subject: A Tale of Old

Sometimes I wonder at the tale
Where days of old have spread
Like the lark that heralds
The once forgotten lovers.

The long and caring tale of lovers
Two who wanted but could not attempt
To get together
for it wasn't warranted
A secret meeting that was planned.

And with the gentle caress
Of a lover's hand
Will take the lady's own to him
And throw a kiss amidst the land
And send his poems to her by courier.

For said lady wasn't there
Like foretold to him by others
She was taken in the forest
By mere fairies who like lovers
They took the young maiden.

And all the poems sent to her
Did not reach the young and gentle lady
For the fairies read them all
And then burned them one by one.

For this tale is merely told
As a warning to young lovers
Do not waste your poems on your love
But just write them to please others.
