Thanks for thinking of me, Croft. One reason I am in the desert is to be the fuck out of the cities. All we have to do out here is to demolish one or two bridges over the freeway leading out here and no one can get into here from the cities.

I have a very minimal amount of cash into this manse. I have no debt and have not had any debts to speak of for almost twenty years. I have money in the right things. If things come undone, I just walk away from the house and let the bank have it back. I don't really need it. I bought it as a transitional place on my way to Reno or somewhere else.

Personally, I have always been more optimistic than you because I see the way the economy is wired in a different light than you. The wealthy cannot remain so without a revenue stream, and, all the money in the world cannot protect you or your Beverely Hills mansion from a mob of a million illegals out to get you in a big food riot.

It is not as easy as for the rich as you think. There are no underground bases or moon bases. What underground shelters there are belong the military and, in an emergency, they could stage a coup d'etat and have a new America under Wesley Clark or one of their own. The military has the real power and billions of dollars or a "safe room" in your mansion will not stop a cruise missile.

I think that there is fundamental value in America and that we will someday repudiate all of our deficit and other debts and declare a new currency, thereby shortening the depression. Since money is fiat anyway, a new currency can exist overnight. Also, a new currency will collapse all of the drug dealers, foreigners, and underground workers who have cash hidden.

We can reset everything. As long as the food and gas supply remains stable, which is easy to do if you own Iraq, the reset can be done.

I think there is a reset coming in which China, the US, and Russia, split the world up into spheres of influence. I think the big three will brutally crush terrorism and enforce a peace. I think each sphere will be self-sustaining and trade will be reduced. The 1% have to manage a huge world population and stability, even if it is fascist in nature, will be paramount.

People like to talk about a coming dark age and one can paint all kinds of scenarios, but I do not see it. I am prepared for harder times, but then again we very easily could have better times once Iraq begins pumping oil. The greed of the super-rich cannot be underestimated and that greed requires stable markets and paying customers. After all, what good is wealth in a techno-Dark Age? I have read the same scenarios since the 70's and the panic merchants of both Christianity and the Left are always wrong. I think humans are resilient and that the US is resilient.
