No doubt; from goading the rest of planet Earth into world war, to finishing off a already screwed up (by his political masters) economy, to using horrible tragedies as a excuse to grab power and our Liberties, the Bush Administration's doing their level best to throw us in a shitcan. But rather than go over what we already know, how about some ideals to ride this out.

Since the economy is actually collapsing-the real economy, not the financial deck chair swapping Bush's political masters are doing to prop up the stock market, unemployment and a lowered standard of living are a likely logical outcome. Get together with your friends and figure out whose jobs would be first to go. Who has a house paid for? Whose could be paid off if everyone chipped in to do this in exchange for use as a "lifeboat" if they lost their jobs? Who has a cabin or property in the country-it would be better if the lifeboat house in question is in the country because without foodstamps and social security, the cities will implode in riot and revolution. If not any of the above, could enough be pooled to secure a place. Could any alternative power supplies like wind, solar, microhydro be rigged up?

That's shelter; now about food. Get together and buy in bulk now while the dollar can buy a relatively lot of food. The Federal Reserve has been pumping up the money supply since the mid 90's and has vowed to go Weimar Germany on deflation... but that's inevitable because there's not enough buyers left to sustain the housing and consumer goods sectors-prices will drop and drop hard with any economic collapse. But wait, what about food? Remember, the Fed is pumping vast amounts of cash into the economy-food is consumed every day and is a vital commodity... it doesn't sit in stores like cars and stereos. Food prices will go through the roof as you're handed your pink slip.

Buy food now like the Mormons do. Pool together with friends and family to build up stores at the lifeboat house.
Trades. Even in this nightmarish collapse, skills will be needed. Basic ones. Mechanical skills, food growing skills, security area skills, bargaining skills. Life in America could very well be headed back to the basics so knowing something about those skills will be a lifesaver.

Money. With the FED printing the dollar into toilet paper(buy that too!) it's beyond stupid to keep your spare coin in federal reserve notes. Buy silver if you can, as it's price is WAY BELOW what it's supply/demand equilibrium price is. Silver is a antibacterial agent, a perfect conductor of electricity, a photographic medium. Most of all it's been MONEY-since near the dawn of civilization. For people who's dollar bills have been turned into emergency buttwipes, silver's precious metal role will come back with a vengeance!

So why wait until it's 200 bucks/oz.? Buy it now in rounds and bars and 90% pre 1965 coins at sub-five bucks and have one of only two investments likely to actually grow with what's coming. What's the other?

Guns. If people are hungry, without shelter and desperate-especially all the born and bred idiots and brats that have largely taken over this country, they're not going to be at all peacable about trying to survive. If you and your people have made any move toward surviving they will be coming for you. They may be scarecrow beggars with nothing to lose, or they may be marauding gangs. High power semiautomatic rifles are the insurance against that. Yes they're expensive now, and even the older bolt action military models get up there after buying ammo, but you will probably be stuck supplying your own security. Or...

You can apply for aid from the Govt. You could... but I wouldn't recommend it as their conduct up to now should throw up alerts like crazy that they'll exploit the coming collapse to turn you into a full-time slave-instead of the slave that has weekends off and lives in a borrowed rocksheet and plywood shack and rolls in a borrowed overengineered car that's designed to fall apart just when you pay it off. Ask help from them? Never!

Will Dubya's fascist antics and his ignoring the perilous state of the economy for global empire NOT cause a collapse? You can say no, but I wouldn't bet on it.
