Subject: More U.S.-inspired deception done in our name

Wow, first it was the taxpayers in the United States footing the bill for the usage of dishonest tactics to whip those who were reluctant into a war frenzy and now it's the Brits turn to make up information, since the facts just don't seem to support a military solution that will kill over one million people--mostly innocent civilians--with "daisy cutter" bombs and rounds of toxic depleated uranium shells, as used in Afghanistan and during the first crisis in Iraq some 12 years ago.

Here is a copy of an email alert sent to me yesterday about some of the issues involved:

COLIN POWELL’S SPEECH, THE IRAQ DOSSIER, PLAGARISM AND DATED INFORMATION:

What are we to believe?

On Friday it was revealed that much of the “Iraq Dossier” which was praised in Colin Powell’s speech to the UN last week and which was used to as a justification to attack Iraq, was lifted word-for-word from research reports
published by at least two unacknowledged scholars.

This is appalling.

First, this information was used by the British Government without any credit to the scholars or the sources of the information. Second, this information was used as proof of Iraq’s deceptive activities and as a justification for war against Iraq today (but much of the information used
in the reports was collected right after the last Gulf War and is 12 years old). Finally, this information was described as being from “intelligence materials” when it was collected by the scholars from publicly available information sources.

The fact that the major American news organizations have pretty much ignored this deception while at the same time
hyping fear based on the “orange alert” brings up questions regarding whom we can trust.
