Subject: F-15 demo was spawned by anti-war Europeans
In reply to: Joyce 's message, "Yes !!!!" on 10:57:49 02/17/03 Mon

Although most of the demonstrations the past few months were organized by North American groups, this past weekend's events was the international day of peace proposed and carried out, chiefly, by various European social justice organizations. Non-Europeans across the planet (there were people in Antartica, too) joined in solidarity with their pro-peace brothers and sisters and held their own marches wherever they could. The group Act Now, Stop War & End Racism (A.N.S.W.E.R) held an important role in mobilizing millions across the world and, I believe, they aren't finished putting together even larger campaigns in the near future.

Personally, since Sec. of State Colin Powell is only interested in forming a coalition of those willing to wage immoral war, I continue marching for the unwilling on both sides of the issue:

Those unwilling to cede their rights to express dissent, as Powell's and other nations prepare to bomb millions of innocent people and those unwilling to think for themselves and are content to swallow all of the jingoistic propaganda presented to them by various corporate media that are owned by the largest defense contractors who have a very large financial interest in procecuting a war.

I don't know if I answered your question, Joyce, but that's my response and I thank you for making an impressive effort of anti-war sentiment that tiniest of a fraction larger and more successful in your small town. I was in Phoenix and we had a very small per capita gathering, however the 5,000 individuals that were there were very united in spirit when included with the over ten million world-wide peace activists.
