Subject: Shit, Goddammit fuck! Mr. Rodgers has died, but Rev. Fred Phelps still draws breath...

... You know, I'd have an easier time believing in God if he'd get off His doughy ass and smite a few assholes from time to time...

I guess you folks are surprised to see the name of Mr. Rodgers in a sentence laden with obscenities...

Still, I am wearing black today because of Mr. Rodgers' passing. His show was broadcast from Pittsburgh, where my mom grew up, and it turns out that he was born in the same town that gives the world Rolling Rock Beer.

Few people know that Pittsburgh was the home of Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood as well as Andy Warhol. I myself didn't know that he was an alum from Pitt as well, where my brother goes right now.

I guess folks my age were the last to only have 3 networks and PBS on TV. I spent my afternoons watching a solid block of Sesame Street, Mr. Rodgers, The Electric Company, and 3-2-1 Contact. Due to that early educational TV watching, the following decade spent watchig Nickelodeon didn't do too much damage.

I mention Mr. Rodgers in the same breath as Phelps to point out that both guys were ministers, but one worked to bring sanity and kindness to the world, while the other is a total asshole. The fact that the asshole is still drawing breath has me steamed.

In a world that seems to rapidly sliding into hurry, hurry, hurry - scream, scream, scream, Mr. Rodgers was a welcome tonic.
