In a conversation I could've quickly corrected myself because all of the verses mentioned by Leo were added, as I previously stated, at a later date.

Also in a real-time discussion someone would have been very silly to have pulled that ruse of declaring their debate opponent must be a believer because they are now quoting biblical verses... either in context or out because it doesn't really matter in this instance.

I don't see anything wrong with employing specific scripture references to hammer home a point because an experienced person that discusses such issues out in the open uses all types of approaches to convey their, in this case, healthy skepticism. In short, if someone pulled that old chestnut they would be thought of as being quite presumptuous and some of the earlier bits of this mythical conversation would have served to confirm the allegation as factual.
