Jefferson was very big on someone's right to owning property, cuz he certainly had enough slaves to demonstrate his beliefs.
Of course, he fathered many a child by his supposed property due to the fact they gave him the "green light" for sex since the female in question could not be shown to blush for, evidently, being so dark in complexion when a comment of a bawdy nature was made by himself. From what I have been told, the slaves took the surname of their masters and that's probably why the country was treated to the delightful comedy called The Jeffersons back in the 70s.
