Subject: Finale thoughts. . .Inside
In reply to: ~~ 's message, "season ten, series finale: Fair Winds and Following Seas, April 29, 2005" on 15:23:11 04/28/05 Thu

I just wanted to share some thoughts on the last episode. there are both pros and cons (even if it seems negative!)

*i'm glad Harm and Mac's relationship was resolved although it all seemed so contrived. Mac wasn't surprised at the proposal (considering they never dated or anything); Cresswell wasn't surprised at their engagement (after all he's only known them for a year and I would think he'd have a little more to say than "outstanding"). It seemed contrived just because they had to cram it into ten minutes, when honeslty at least half the episode should have been them dealing with the changes.

*I think they had too many flashbacks. I know all series finales end up having flashbacks but it frustrates me because we've all seen them and if I wanted to see them again, I'd watch the old episode. And it wastes precious time when we could be seeing new material. It's not as though they had a shortage of storyline.

*There was way too much Vic and I don't think anyone really cared for his storyline in the last episode. There was no connection to wrapping up JAG as a whole. It should have dealt entirely with the main characters like Harm, Mac, Bud, etc.

*I thought DJE and especially CB portrayed the last scenes well. You could really see their love in their eyes.

*Personally I think Harm should be the one to resign or rather take another billet in San Diego. Reasons for this are that it's possible for Mac to be the first female JAG and that is a success for all women! Harm would be able to take care of Mattie because she is going to need him a lot in the next couple of years. Finally, law wasn't even Harm's primary goal in life. He wanted to be an aviator and I'm sure he could find other posts (i.e at Miramar) where his tactical and legal knowledge would come in handy.
